How developers can reduce payment delays from flat buyers
Delays often start on your side
Many overdue instalments begin with a late demand letter. When a milestone is reached but the demand goes out a week later, the buyer’s due date slips too. Raise demands the day a milestone is certified.
Make the demand impossible to miss
Send the PDF on WhatsApp and email together, with the amount, due date and bank details on the first page. Buyers act faster on a message they can open on their phone.
Remind before and after the due date
A friendly reminder three days before the due date and a follow-up the day after prevents most delays. Keep a history so any executive can see what was already sent.
Track ageing weekly
Group overdue amounts into 0–30, 31–60 and 60+ day buckets. Escalate the older buckets personally and review the numbers every week.
